Surface Preparation
- The existing repairs were removed, and the corroded sections of the pipe were prepared using mechanical hand tools, given the restricted access. This abrasion was crucial for ensuring that the repair materials would adhere effectively.
Application of UPS19003 THISTLEBOND A&B CEMENT
- The damaged section was coated with UPS 19003 A&B to a thickness of 102mm. This provided a solid foundation for the subsequent layers of the repair.
Application of UPS19000 RH THISTLEBOND STANDARD RESIN & HARDENER and UPS 19007 GT THISTLEBONDGLASS TAPE
- The repair area was then over coated with UPS 19000 RH. While the resin was still wet, three layers of UPS 19007 GT were incorporated into the material. This composite wrapping created a strong and durable repair that reinforced the pipe and provided long-term protection against corrosion.
