Surface Preparation
- In-situ steel work was prepared using mechanical hand tools to remove any loose material and create a suitable surface for coating.
- New sections of steel were abrasive blast cleaned to SA2.5 with a 75-micron profile to ensure optimal adhesion of the coating.
Application of UPS 405 EPC-XL EPOXY PROTECTIVE COATING – EXTENDED LIFE
- UPS 405 EPC-XL was applied using a single-leg airless spray, with brush and roller used where necessary. The coating was applied to a total nominal dry film thickness of 500microns, providing robust protection against chemical attack.
Application of UPS 509 UVST UV STABLE TOPCOAT
- Once the epoxy coating was cured, the steelwork was over coated with UPS 509 UVST. This final layer was applied by spray, brush, or roller, providing additional protection and ensuring UV stability for the long-term durability of the coating system.
