Surface Preparation
- The substrate was abrasive blasted to ISO 5801/4 SA 2.5 (SSPC-SP 10/NACE 2) with a minimum angular blast profile of 75 microns. This preparation ensured the coating would adhere effectively to the surface.
Application of UPS519 HD HEAVY DUTY CERAMIC
- UPS 519 HD was applied to all surfaces of the slurry pump to a nominal thickness of 4mm. The material was applied using stiff-bristled brushes, applicators, and by hand in hard-to-reach areas.
Enhanced Protection with Ceramic Tiles:
- While the UPS 519 HD was still wet, areas prone to the highest levels of erosion were further reinforced with a matrix of high wear-resistant ceramic tiles. These tiles were embedded into the surface to provide additional protection and extend the service life of the pump.
The application of UPS 519 HD, along with the strategic placement of ceramic tiles, successfully protected the slurry pumps from further erosion.
