UNIQUE POLYMER SYSTEMS provided a robust solution using our UPS 120 XFF, UPS 19000 RH, and UPS FLEX-TECH REINFORCEMENT TAPE. The repair process involved the following steps:
Surface Preparation
- Handheld grinders were used to remove the existing failed repair materials and to abrade the steel substrate around the flange joint. This preparation ensured a clean surface for the new repair materials to adhere effectively.
Application of UPS 120 XFF FAST CURING METAL FLUID
- UPS 120 XFF was applied around the flange joint using a spatula and plastic applicator. A layer of UPS FLEX-TECH REINFORCEMENT TAPE was embedded into the wet material to provide addtional strength and durability.
Application of UPS 19000 RH THISTLEBOND STANDARD RESIN & HARDENER
- UPS 19000 RH was mixed and applied by brush to encapsulate the entire flange area. To further reinforce the repair, three layers of UPS FLEX-TECH REINFORCEMENT TAPE were incorporated, building up the strength and thickness of the repair.
The repair successfully stopped the hydrocarbon leakage, restoring the integrity of the flange joint. The combination of UPS 120 XFF and UPS 19000 RH provided a durable and reliable solution, ensuring the safety and operational efficiency of the facility.
