Preparation
- The process line was first shut down, and the pipe was drained of all fluids to prepare for the repair.
- The repair area was then abraded with hand-held mechanical tools to remove any surface contaminants and create a rough surface profile for optimal adhesion.
- The area was cleaned with UPS 9918 MEK CLEANER to ensure it was free of any remaining residues.
Application of UPS THISTLEBOND EMERGENCY PIPE REPAIR BANDAGE
- Due to the larger diameter of the pipe, multiple UPS THISTLEBOND EMERGENCY PIPE REPAIR BANDAGE were applied around the damaged section.
- The bandages were layered until an overall thickness of 12mm was achieved, ensuring a strong and durable repair.
- The rapid-curing nature of the bandage allowed the pipe to be returned to service within just 4hours of the initial shutdown.
