Surface Preparation
- All loose and damaged concrete was removed using hand tools. The lost material was then replaced with UPS 804 ECPR which restored the integrity of the bunds.
Priming with UPS 909 PP POROUS PRIMER
- All concrete and porous surfaces were primed with UPS 909 PP. For additional protection, drains and outlets were reinforced with a layer of glass fiber incorporated into the wet primer, ensuring a solid base for the final coating.
Steel Surface Preparation
- Steel substrates were prepared using the UPS MINI-BLASTER to create a suitable Sa 2.5 surface profile, ensuring proper adhesion of the protective coating.
Application of UPS 407 EN EPOXY NOVOLAC
- All surfaces were coated with two applications of UPS 407 EN, achieving a total dry film thickness of 800 microns. This dual-coat system provided robust protection against the corrosive effects of concentrated sulphuric acid.
