Surface Preparation
- The concrete surfaces were abraded using mechanical hand tools with abrasive discs to remove surface laitance and ensure a clean substrate.
- Steel substrates were prepared using mechanical hand grinders, creating a suitable profile for coating adhesion.
Application of UPS 909 PP POROUS PRIMER
- The prepared concrete surfaces were primed with UPS 909 PP, applied by brush and roller to a nominal wet film thickness of 150 microns. This primer sealed the porous substrate, ensuring a strong bond for the subsequent protective coating.
Application of UPS 405 EPC EPOXY PROTECTIVE COATING
- After allowing the primer to cure overnight, two coats of UPS 405 EPC were applied to all surfaces. The coating was applied by brush and roller to achieve a total dry film thickness of 600 microns, providing robust protection against chemical spills.
