IPN VESSEL LINING

Description

A two-component, blue, brushable / sprayable, advanced polymer coating, formulated as a high-performance, room temperature cure, 100% solids, chemical and abrasion resistant coating system. It is designed for:

IPN VESSEL LINING is a new coating material that combines the disciplines of organic film formation and chemical degradation with the modern science and technology of Polymers. IPN Polymer VESSEL LINING is an advanced hybrid which results from polymerizing two specially formulated reactive resins at room temperature. The need for such IPN Polymers emerged because conventional polymer materials have serious shortcomings:

Which individually or in combination SHORTEN the service life of tanks, vessels and other similar equipment subject to thermal movements and chemical attack.

Through extensive research and development, a revolutionary coating material has been formulated that provides answers to the shortcomings listed above. Chemical resistance is a characteristic of polymers, whereas impact and abrasion resistance is a function of thickness of coatings. While competitive laboratories strive to develop other properties, the developers of IPN Polymer recognized that "Resistance To Deformation" and "How Much Thermal Cycling Will Move The Material" were just as important as "Resistance To Chemical Attack".

Typical applications

RE-SURFACING concrete or metal storage tanks, pits, containment areas to provide protection from chemical attack and/or corrosion.
REHABILITATING corroded structural members and fluid flow equipment.
PREVENTATIVE maintenance coating of metallic parts and equipment already in use.
PROTECTIVE coating of new parts and equipment coming off the production lines (OEM).
SEALING swimming pools.

All of the above applications can be successfully conducted on substrates other than concrete and metal, such as brick, marble, stone, fiberglass and wood.

Physical data

INCREASED FLOW IN PUMPS AND PIPES
Improves the hydrodynamic performance and increase the output by up to 20% due to its low surface tension and smooth surface.

REDUCED POWER CONSUMPTION
As efficiency of fluid handling systems increases, more fluid is achieved at less energy input.

SUPERIOR MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
Will produce lasting performance.

HIGH CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
Will withstand corrosion and chemical attack, this will minimize downtime. A FORTUNE 100 OIL COMPANY found, through their own in-house testing, that IPN VESSEL LINING was the ONLY coating material that cold take the punishment of MOLTEN SULPHUR pits. Excellent resistance to most acids, alkalis, solvents, and salt solutions.

100% SOLIDS - NO SOLVENTS
No solvent-entrapment, since it is solvent-free to begin with. That means no blisters, bubbles, holidays or pinholes. One coat application will deposit anywhere from 0.4mm  of "Dried-Thickness". This thickness is only achieved by 4-6 coats of solvent-based coatings with long hours of wait between each two consecutive coatings to allow the solvent to escape into the atmosphere. This may not only create health, safety and fire hazards, but also makes the whole proposition extremely expensive by extending downtime into several days.

CHEMICAL BOND BETWEEN LAYERS
Makes "Seamless" coats possible. Moreover, there are no mechanical fracture planes or disbonding to worry about.

PHENOMENAL BOND STRENGTH TO BOTH CONCRETE AND METAL
This tremendous adhesion capability far exceeds engineering specifications. Positive bond is also achieved to other substrates such as wood, brick, ceramic and even glass.

NO PRIMERS NEEDED
Unique "Self-Priming" formulation renders good bond without extra cost of priming material or application labor.

NON-POROUS
Water is the single most important source of gradual destruction in concrete. As you know, water expands by freezing and cracks concrete. Water also completes the requirements of an "Electrochemical cell" in steel reinforced concrete causing corrosion. Rust build-up due to corrosion shatters concrete. Since there is no microstructure menaces like pores to retain water, there is no need to worry about FREEZE/THAW damage or rusting in IPN VESSEL LINING.

NON-RUSTING
IPN VESSEL LINING's non-ferrous composition is the key to its non-rusting/non-corroding nature. And the fact that it is non-porous also helps. The net result is long rust-free service.

WATERPROOF
IPN VESSEL LINING is impervious to moisture and de-icing chemicals. This means that direct or indirect damage by the presence of water can be safely disregarded. It also means easy maintenance. VESSEL LINING is easily cleaned with detergent and water.

SAME DAY APPLICATION
Normal application is of 2 coats of 0.4mm each to achieve a 0.8mm final dry film thickness. Coats applied back to back, 2 - 3 hours apart. Same day application will suffice in most cases, giving a tremendous advantage in reduced downtime costs.

COMPLIES WITH LOW VOC REGULATIONS.
Extremely stringent new "Volatile Organic Compounds" regulations have already made many coatings "Obsolete". Since IPN VESSEL LINING contains no solvents, you can safely specify and use it in any industrial environment, indoors or outdoors.

COMPLIES WITH "CLEAN WATER" REGULATIONS
Since there are no components that leave the product at any stage of storage, application, cure or in-service, you can safely specify and use this product in any industrial application.

LOW ODOR
Applicators or employees will not be subjected to obnoxious fumes.

SPRAYABLE
Multi component or even airless spray units will give great results. A system similar to 45:1 Bulldog with 1/2" hose fitted with mastic guns and #19-#23 tips. Larger ratios and smaller tips may be used and heating element is recommended (40-50oC). Input pressure of 75-90psi and spray pressure of 4,000 - 5,000psi would be typical. You can also use a brush, roller, applicator or squeegee.

SPLITTABLE UNITS
You can mix full or partial units, so you do not waste any material by mixing more than the repair requires.

FACTORY-PROPORTIONED PACKAGING.
Easy to mix and apply because mix ratios are kept during packaging of components so that you don't have to weigh or measure anything before use. Just mix all contents.

EASY TO USE:
No need for outside contracting. In-House personnel can easily be trained to use with minimum tools.

INDEFINITE SHELF LIFE.
Means you can use the left-over split unit next month, next year, or next decade. This enables you to stock-up and be prepared for those "Unexpected Downtimes".
